Need Decorating Ideas For A Western, Countryside Theme
If you are thinking of a theme to decorate your home with, the western, country theme is an option worth looking at. It gives a cozy and warm ambiance to the home and is easy to do. The materials are mostly nature-inspired and the colors are refreshing. Here are some decorating ideas for a home in the countryside:
Bring natural materials and use them generously. There are so many outdoors that a simple visit to your backyard, a look in your garden or a stroll in the park can give you inspirations. Perhaps you can even get some for free! Twigs, tree branches, plants, rocks, wood, etc. are some examples of outdoor resources you can use for your home decors. You can put flowers throughout the house - in your bedroom, the living room, hallway, kitchen and even in the bathroom. Fresh flowers are so pretty and smell so sweet that having them at home gives a cottage feel to your place. Use twigs as flowers too by placing them in a vase and use it as a table centerpiece. Look around you and try to integrate these natural materials into your living space.
Use a color motif that is reminiscent of nature, freshness and simplicity. This is not a club wannabe but a warm and cozy abode. Nice colors you can choose from are shades of green, blue, yellow, brown and red.
Use things that are reflections of the countryside lifestyle. Wood of course is a common material as well as bamboo. You can add some wooden furniture such as a coffee table or a cabinet. Add more decorative items like embroidered or weaved textiles, some native crafts and artworks depicting nature or the countryside.
Southwestern or Native American rugs are perfect for this design theme. You can have one large rug placed in the center of the room or a couple under some furniture. If you can't find a southwestern rug, any kind in earth tones will be nice.
Finish your Western design by using old items in unexpected ways. Try using cowboy boots as bookends or rawhide as wall hangings. Horseshoes make innovative candleholders or they could be displayed on a shelf. Use western bandannas to make pillow covers or to cover lamp shades. Get creative and watch your room transform before your eyes!
Try to have soft lighting as much as possible. Use lamps in the rooms and make your home as cozy and comfortable as if you are in a real cabin log in the middle of the rugged western mountains.
Don't be ripped off by imitations. Be sure to buy authentic southwestern style rugs directly.
